Conference registration
The conference is free to attend but we require all presenters and delegates to register so that we can judge numbers for room bookings and catering. Please register for the event as soon as possible via this link: RIO 2024: 16th & 17th May 2024
When you register, you can add-on registration for the conference dinner. The dinner will be free to attend so please make sure you select this option if you plan to attend the dinner.
We are very pleased to announce our two invited speakers for RIO 2024:
Dr Ellen Poliakoff
Title: Imagery in action in people with Parkinson's
Ellen is interested in the overlap between cognition and motor processes; in particular how we copy (imitation) and simulate (motor imagery) actions. Ellen explores how these processes are affected in Parkinson’s disease and autism. Ellen is co-director of the BEAM (Body Eyes and Movement) lab with Dr Emma Gowen blogs.manchester.ac.uk/beamlab/
Dr Sarah Kraeutner
Title: A multi-modal approach to understanding motor imagery: implications for motor (re)learning in health and after stroke
Sarah focuses on how to improve motor learning and relearning after brain injury. Basic work explores brain function and plasticity associated with motor learning through non-physical forms of practice (imagined practice and action observation). Applied work focuses on non-physical forms of practice, and tools to aid this, to promote recovery after stroke. Sarah heads up the Neuroplasticity, Imagery, and Motor Behaviour Laboratory (NIMBL) https://thenimbl.com
For any questions in the meantime, please contact the local organiser: Professor Caroline Wakefield [email protected]
